New Season Simplicity Sewing Patterns
New sewing patterns from Simplicity featured on the vlog this week - Lucy picked out her favourites and paired them with dressmaking fabrics you could whip them up in. See below for the video and links to all the patterns and fabrics.
You've gotta love a Mimi G pattern! This jumpsuit and mini dress pattern is just so cute. A sweetheart neckline and asymmetric drape that ties at the waist accentuates the female form beautifully.
This strapless design is boned for structure and what a great reason to try out a new sewing technique if you haven't sewn boning before.
The suggested fabrics included rayon, crepe and silky types so I thought this vibrant Morracain crepe would work beautifully for the jumpsuit. Paired with strappy heels it would perfect for cocktails with the girls or dressed down with flat sandals for a family BBQ.
You can also find boning here.
Another Mimi G sewing pattern with super cute design details this fun dress features a faux wrap, puff sleeves, fitted waistline and Aline skirt with box pleats. It also features a sexy V at the back neckline.
Another pattern suitable for woven fabrics with a little more structure and body such as denim, poplin and cotton or linen blends I thought this abstract animal print cotton lawn would work perfectly. I have a wrap skirt in this print and it is one of my absolute favourites.
This dress definitely deserves a pair of heels and some glamorous accessories for a night out on the town!
The perfect casual day dress for summer I love the pretty feminine details on this dress pattern.
A Vneck front and deep V back with princess seams on the front bodice and waist darts on the back bodice, a gathered skirt with three length options and a choice of hem ruffle plus optional ruffle sleeves and waist tie. I mean does it get any prettier than this?!
Recommended fabrics include double gauze, cotton blends, gingham and linen blends so I thought our double gauze fabric would work beautifully and keep you cool on even the hottest of summer days.
Another knock out dress pattern I love the princess seams, square neckline, optional ruffle detail and length and thigh slit options.
Square necklines are so on trend right now and the princess seams make achieving a great fit possible.
I'd go for the contemporary midi length option in this pretty floral print polyester fabric for an evening dress that would work across the seasons paired with my favourite strappy black heels.
So many interesting design details on this dress pattern. A centre front panel with gathers under the bust of the side bodice pieces and cummerbund finished with varying skirt length options with gathers at the centre front waist. Choose from sleeveless or flutter sleeves for an extra pretty look.
This dress is fancy enough to make a knock out dress for a wedding or a casual day dress depending on your choice of fabric and hem length and sleeves.
I thought our Prestige crepe in teal would work wonderfully paired with gold accessories you'd be sure to stand out from the crowd at any Christmas party.
I hope you enjoyed that little round up as much as I did and don't forget there are plenty of other new patterns in the Simplicity range to choose from. You can find them all here.
Have fun sewing!
