Husqvarna Viking Free Arm Embroidery Hoop for Epic 3 100mm x 150mm. 920811096

Husqvarna Viking Free Arm Embroidery Hoop for Epic 3 100mm x 150mm (920811096).

For the Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 3 Sewing and Embroidery Machine‚ easily embroider tubular garments or items with a closed end (i.e. tote bags) without having to undo any seams. Innovative design allows projects to be positioned around the free arm and under the arm of the embroidery units. Clear markings on the hoop indicate the embroidery area.

Size: 100mm x 150mm

Compatible machines:

  • Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 3

Instructions for Use

The embroidery surface measures 150x100mm. In the machine user interface the embroidery area is shown with the quick release in the lower right corner. Consider that when positioning the design.

  • Open the quick release on the outer hoop‚ and loosen the retaining screw. Remove the inner hoop.
  • Place the project on a flat surface. Use suitable stabilizer at the wrong side of the project. Place the outer hoop inside the project.
  • Place the inner hoop on top of your project. The embroidery hoop connector to the left of the inner hoop should be placed towards the "closed" part of the project.
  • Push the inner hoop firmly into the outer hoop.
  • Close the quick release. Adjust the pressure of the outer hoop by turning the retaining screw. The fabric should be taut in the hoop for the best results.
  • Remove the accessory tray from the machine and connect the embroidery unit.
  • Position your design as you wish in the embroidery area in the machine user interface. Go to Embroidery Stitch-Out.
  • Slide the hooped project around the free arm. It cannot be too tight‚ the hoop must be able to move while embroidering. Hoop your project so that the narrowest opening is placed around the free arm‚ otherwise the opening could get caught when embroidering and cause misplacement of the stitches.
  • Arrange your project around the free arm and in the well area of the embroidery unit. Make sure it is not too bulky under the embroidery hoop connector. The hoop is designed for some fabric to fit under the connector‚ but for larger projects it is preferable if parts of the fabric could be placed at the back of the machine.

Hints and Tips

Small Garments

  • Turn the garment inside out. Fuse an iron-on stabilizer to the inside of the garment. Turn the garment right side out again. Trim the stabilizer to fit the embroidery hoop‚ to avoid having excess stabilizer inside the garment.
  • Keep the quick release on the outer hoop closed‚ instead loosen the retaining screw. Remove the inner hoop. Place the garment on a flat surface. Place the outer hoop (with the quick release closed) inside the garment. If you want to embroider in the upper part of the garment‚ place the quick release to the upper right.
  • Place the inner hoop on top of the garment. The embroidery hoop connector should be placed towards the bottom opening of the garment.
  • Push the inner hoop firmly into the outer hoop.
  • Adjust the pressure of the outer hoop by turning the retaining screw. The fabric should be taut in the hoop for the best results.

Difficult to Hoop Projects

Jeans/Trousers

  • Fold up the trouser leg‚ place the lower part of the leg around the free arm. Hoop stabilizer and attach the hoop. Place the trousers around the hoop. Pull the leg further on to the free arm. Position the trousers correctly. Pin in place at a few places. After you have chosen your design‚ use the scan hoop or projection to place your design.
  • When in stitch-out‚ you can use the Exact Position functions for perfect positioning of your design. Use the baste around hoop function to baste the trousers in place.
  • Note: The trouser leg cannot be too tight; it must be possible for the fabric to move when the hoop is moving.

Collars‚ Necklines and Sleeves

  • Place the project around the free arm‚ hoop self-adhesive stabilizer. Place the hoop inside the project‚ attach the hoop. Position the garment on the hoop and baste in place.
