Husqvarna Viking Large Magnetic Hoop for Epic 3 360mm x 230mm. 920839096

Husqvarna Viking Large Magnetic Hoop for Epic 3 (920839096).

Size: 360mm x 230mm

Compatible machines:

  • Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 3

User Instructions

Some fabrics are harder to hoop‚ or should not be hooped at all‚ as it can damage the material. Thick‚ coarse or large fabrics can be challenging‚ but with the magnetic hoop‚ hooping is no longer a problem!

Hoop

There are raised markings on the hoop indicating the centre of the embroidery area. When positioning the fabric in the hoop‚ you can easily feel the raised markings (ill. A) through the fabric with your fingertips.

Magnets and hooping

Use the magnets to secure the fabric to the hoop. For the best results‚ place the magnets evenly around the hoop.

  • To attach a magnet‚ tilt it slightly and slide it into position (ill. B).
  • Start by attaching the large top and bottom magnets‚ then place the side magnets – one short and one long on each side‚ arranged so the short magnet faces the long one and vice versa.
  • Position the magnets so that the arrows face the embroidery area.
  • Make sure that there is enough space in each corner of the hoop to allow it to pass under the foot.
  • Place the magnets as illustrated for best results (ill. B).
  • To remove a magnet‚ gently push it by the edge just under the arrow (ill. C) and push it towards the centre of the hoop.
  • When not in use‚ store the magnets directly on the hoop.

Note: Always keep the magnets separated to prevent harming your fingers when handling them.

Template

The template includes both inch and centimetre measurements. Use it to help hoop the fabric smoothly and evenly before placing the magnets. It also helps maintain fabric tension while hooping.

There are slits in the template that allow you to mark the fabric using a water-soluble fabric pen. Use the printed lines as a guide when aligning your fabric or project.

When placing the magnets‚ fit them snugly between the grooves of the template to ensure that the template is removed easily afterwards. Start by positioning the magnet with the lip facing upward‚ then gently fold it down into place (ill. D).

Using the template is especially recommended when hooping sheer or lightweight fabrics‚ as it helps keep the material secure and smooth before attaching the magnets.

Different ways to use the hoop

This hoop is designed to be used with a stabiliser for larger embroidery projects.

You can easily rehoop the fabric without removing the hoop from the machine‚ allowing you to continue embroidering in any direction. This is especially useful when working on large projects such as quilts‚ where repositioning is needed to cover a larger area.

Standard embroidery

The large magnetic hoop is also suitable for standard embroidery. Place the stabiliser on the hoop and place the fabric on top. Use the magnets to fix the fabric to the hoop.

Quilting

This hoop is especially well suited for large quilting projects such as edge-to-edge embroidery. When quilting‚ it is recommended to start in the centre of the quilt and work your way outward (ill. E). The large hoop area allows you to cover more of the quilt at once‚ reducing the number of rehoopings needed.

To ensure smooth and even stitching‚ make sure the quilt is fully supported at both the front and back of the machine. Avoid letting the quilt hang off the table‚ as this can cause pulling or shifting. Use the large hoop support to keep the quilt flat and steady while embroidering.

The hoop makes it easy to rehoop without removing it from the machine‚ which is especially helpful when working on large projects where continuous alignment is important.

Endless embroidery

Endless embroideries are done easily with the magnetic hoop. Use a suitable stabiliser for your project.

  1. Embroider the first endless design‚ then remove the magnets (ill. F).
  2. Move the fabric until the needle is in the next positioning stitch (ill. G). If your machine features Exact Position‚ that can be used instead.
  3. Fix the fabric with magnets on the long sides of the hoop (ill. H).
  4. Step through the design to move the needle to the next positioning stitch. If necessary‚ adjust the fabric.
  5. Fix the fabric to the hoop with one of the remaining magnets (ill. I) and continue embroidering.

Note: To replace an empty bobbin‚ raise the presser foot and carefully remove the hoop from the embroidery unit through the corners. Change the bobbin and reattach the hoop.
