Joa Top Merchant and Mills sewing pattern.

The Merchant & Mills Joa is a simple, lined wrap top with side ties that can be made quilted or unquilted. Wear it on its own as a statement top or layer it over shirts, tees and knitwear as a stylish gilet when the weather turns cooler.
The pattern is designed to work beautifully in quilted cottons, layered cotton jacquards and denim. You can use pre-quilted fabric, or quilt your own fabric using the instructions included with the pattern. This makes Joa a great introduction to quilting if you haven't tried it before, while still being a quick and satisfying project for more experienced sewists.
For a non-quilted version, try midweight cotton or denim. If you would like to quilt your own fabric, lightweight linen, cotton, cotton blends and lightweight denim up to 5oz are all suitable choices. Merchant & Mills recommend using 100% cotton wadding.
For prequilted fabric use quilted cotton jacquard or quilted cotton.
For creating your own quilted fabric: lightweight linen & cotton, cotton blends, lightweight denims up to 5oz. We recommend using 100% cotton wadding for this make which is widely available at quilting shops and suppliers.
For non quilted fabric: midweight cottons and denim.

If you opt for the printed paper pattern we'll print it on our in-house large format A0 printer and post it to your address.
Please note that we don’t print the instructions. These will be emailed to you as a PDF‚ along with the digital pattern files‚ when we dispatch your paper pattern.
Occasionally some large pattern pieces may be split across two A0 sheets and will need to be joined together.
If you choose the PDF digital download option‚ a link to download your pattern files will be included in your order confirmation email.
