Sew an elegant summer dress with the Martha Dress sewing pattern!
Fitted with bust darts, the Martha Dress bodice is designed to be a snug fit, with pleats leading into a dramatic long sash. The wrap over bodice allows you to cinch the waist in or leave it a little loose - perfect for post-picnic comfort!
Choose between two skirt lengths: just below the knee or midi. Both work perfectly whether you’re throwing on your trusty white pumps, or dressing up in heels. The skirt is cut on the bias, giving you plenty of swish as you move.
The dress is finished with a centre back invisible zip, and pocket fans, this is one for you! The Martha Dress has in seam pockets to make her as functional as she is gorgeous.
Martha is perfect for summer fabrics like linen and cotton. She looks fabulous in ginghams, spots, plains, just about anything really! Depending on the fabric that you use, the Martha Dress could also double up for a stunning evening dress. She’d look effortlessly glam in a luxurious or bold print.
We recommend medium weight woven fabrics for Martha, such as cotton poplin, sateen, linen, viscose linen blends, heavier viscose/viscose twills, stable seersuckers, chambray, stable crepes and brocade. Due to the bias cut skirt, we advise against choosing fabric with a strong directional print.
