This is an invaluable piece of equipment to add to your sewing and tailoring armoury.
The top‚ with it's narrow pointed surface‚ enables you to press hard to reach areas such as lapels ‚collar points and cuffs. Simply place your seam wrong side up‚ apply plenty of steam to your seam and the hardwood surface will absorb the steam thus giving a crisp finish to your garment.
The base is called the clapper and is used to set seams‚ creases‚ pleats and to flatten bulky seams. To use‚ apply plenty of steam to the seam then press firmly with the clapper‚ holding in place until the seam has cooled. Likewise‚ it will produce perfect edges to collars‚ jacket fronts‚ necklines etc when used on the right side of the garment.
We would recommend using a good quality fine cotton or silk organza pressing cloth to prevent shine. (Available in the Fabric Category on this website)
