Super versatile, the Tulip Skirt is a true wardrobe must-have. A classic tulip shape, it’s one of Lisa’s favourite silhouettes. Designed to be gorgeously flattering, it has pretty slanted pleats at the front, with darts at the back for subtle shaping. The side seams curve to give that lovely shape, and also play host to super functional in-seam pockets. (Who doesn’t love a pocket!) Sitting at the waist, it has a curved waistband, designed to hug your waist with maximum no-gape effect.
With both a mini and a knee-length option, the Tulip is your best friend for all seasons and occasions. Pair with tights and the mini version is your perfect winter companion, or for those of you enjoying warmer weather, make the knee length version and show off those bare legs.
Tulip Skirt is a joy to sew as well as wear. It’s full of techniques so it’s great for advanced beginners eager to learn some new skills - get to grips with darts, pleats, pockets and inserting an invisible zip. A one-day project, it’s a satisfying make that you’ll want to make over and over again.
The Tulip Skirt works best in mid-weight woven fabrics with a good amount of structure. Think medium weight cottons, wools and soft furnishing fabrics. In anything too lightweight or drapey the Tulip Skirt will lose its shape.

Occasionally some large pattern pieces may be split across two A0 sheets and will need to be joined together.
