I have some new Butterick patterns to share with you this week and we have picked out the perfect fabrics you could sew them up in.

This was a small release and I've just picked out four patterns that I thought were really worth a mention.

Butterick 6934 wrap skirt pattern

The first one is Butterick 6934 which is a lovely simple wrap skirt with options for an above the knee length or a midi length hem. It is a very simple wrap across and tie at the side design with a bow.

I really like the styling on the packet - the short version is styled with a classic white shirt and creates a very contemporary look and the midi length version is styled with a classic tank top.

I've seen a lot of linen wrap skirts in quite a few of my favourite High Street stores this summer and know this is a key look for the season.

The size range runs up to a 26 which is a 41.5" waist and a 50" hip. The fabric I thought would work really well is our lovely brick red colour cotton linen mix fabric. I would make the short version in this fabric and pair it with a white shirt or a white tank top and some flat metallic sandals.

I know I'd get a lot of wear out of this outfit in the summer and it is definitely something I need more of in my summer wardrobe. I've got a couple of handmade maxi skirts, but I haven't made any shorter length skirts and know they would be a very wearable summer look for me and my lifestyle.

Butterick 6926 wrap dress pattern

The next pattern I want to share with you is Butterick 6926 and 6927. The same design comes in two sizes with the larger size running up to a very size inclusive 38. The size 38 is a 60" bust, 54.5" waist and 62" hip.

There are two views for this dress, both options have a crossover wrap front with a side tie and curved hem at the front, which is finished with a pretty ruffle. There's also a pretty ruffle around the neckline and options for a sleeveless version or a long sleeve version finished with a small cuff and a bishop sleeve effect. All in all lots of pretty, feminine details.

I really like the sleeveless version I think it would make a great evening dress for holidays, it looks like it would hang beautifully with the right fabric.

Fabric wise you would want something nice and drapey to show off the lovely feminine ruffles and our popular viscose challis fabric with an animal print and floral design would work really well.

Butterick 6923 vintage 50s dress pattern

The next pattern I wanted to share with you is a retro vintage 1950s design and I just thought it was beautiful.

When I think 1950s I always think of Grace Kelly styles - voluminous, full skirts and cinched in waists, but this design is more sleek and fitted and I love it.

It has a sweetheart neckline, what looks like a little bit of gathering at the bust and is very fitted at the waist. This dress is also a wrap skirt design so it is all about the wrap skirts in this release.

The wrap skirt ties in a bow at the side with a gentle pencil shaped skirt but it's not an overly fitted pencil skirt because of the wrap, which makes it hang nicely.

There's a little Bolero jacket that you can make to go with the skirt and you've also got the option for shoulder straps as well.

The dress has waist darts at the front and back to create a lovely, classic shape. It reminded me of Mrs Maisel if anybody's watched that series on Amazon. If you haven't seen Mrs Maisel just think bucket loads of Hollywood glamour.

It would make a lovely dress for a wedding or a special occasion party over the summer.

It runs up to a size 24 which is a 46" bust, 39" waist and 48" hip. You have plenty of options fro fabric choices, but I thought our John Kaldor Santa Cruz satin fabric would look spectacular sewn up into the strapless dress.

Butterick 6928 wrap dress pattern

The last design I wanted to share with you is another wrap dress, which means all four designs I've chosen are wrap dresses, which I love.

Butterick 6928 is a classic wrap dress with waist darts that finish at the bust. It has a really cute shirt style collar, a thin tie at the side and an option for a gentle flared A-line midi length skirt or you've got an option for a shorter, above the knee skirt.

There is an option for a short puff sleeve with a cuff or you can go for the full length sleeve with a deeper cuff, overall a lovely classic design.

This dress runs up to a size 26 which is a 48" bust, 41" waist and a 50" hip.

It is very unusual for me to choose a fabric that isn't a bright colour, but I thought a classic, black short sleeved wrap dress in our gorgeous John Kaldor Prestige crepe would look really rather lovely and just be a very useful, classic wardrobe staple that would stand the test of time and you would wear for decades.

I hope you enjoyed my little round up of the latest Butterick patterns and are feeling inspired to sew.

Have fun sewing!
