Shorts can be a great, quick, easy, sewing project and there are sewing patterns to cover all of the most popular styles including cargo shorts, boyfriend shorts, culottes, skorts, cycling shorts, tailored shorts, wide leg shorts, track shorts and paperbag waist shorts. If you need a quicker, more simple sew look, for looser fitting designs with minimal detail as they will be easier to fit and sew. It can be a little trickier to fit trousers and shorts so a good tip is to make a rough practice run from some unwanted fabric to test the fit first. Once you’ve got the fit right, many shorts patterns are very simple to sew with relatively few pattern pieces or construction steps to follow. You might even get really lucky and find that some of the looser fitting designs fit straight out of the packet.
